Reading Humanists Committee
Clare Walsha is Chair of Reading Humanists. She is a Humanists UK school speaker and Humanist representative on Reading SACRE (Standing Advisory Committee for Religious Education) and Wokingham SACRE.
David Good is Treasurer of Reading Humanists. He’s been a member of Humanists UK since 2016. David is retired following 25 years of finance and management roles in the IT industry. He has a science background, having studied Physics at Imperial College in London.
Radu Nicolaev-Malaxaow joined the Humanists Reading committee in early 2026. Although he studied Politics & Economics at UCL and now works in construction, his real passion lies in exploring the “big questions” around philosophy and the nature of the universe.
When he isn’t working or volunteering, you can usually find Radu outdoors. He is a dedicated runner and climber with a massive life goal: summiting every mountain over 8,000 m.
Alan Montgomery is a former chair of Reading Humanists and of Farnham Humanists. He’s been a Humanist since 1963. After working for CAP Reading, ICL, and SDL. he founded Integral Solutions Ltd (ISL) in Bramley (AI / Data Mining). Reading Uni and ISL later co-developed software used by silicon chip makers around the world.
Sam Breakwell has been a member of Reading Humanists since 2019. Sam currently works for the local authority where she’s been for over 15 years.
Additional Committee Members are Len Middleton, Mike Douglas and Mark Robins.
The Committee meet three times a year and provide an update to members at the AGM held in January. Committee members formally join the Committee as part of the AGM but any member is welcome to join a committee meeting to learn more or contribute to the running of events.
