The group offers:

  • a thriving local humanist community
  • a varied and interesting programme of fortnightly meetings, annual One Life course, bi-monthly book group and quarterly social gatherings
  • support to Humanists UK
  • representation of the voice of the non-religious through our membership of the Wokingham Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) and Bracknell Forest SACRE. SACRE os the body that, by law, is responsible for devising the local RE curriculum in schools and monitoring collective worship
  • the promotion of awareness of humanism through school speaking and community events such as the Remembrance Parade and Reading Pride
  • the promotion of awareness of non-religious ceremonies offered by Humanist UK’s Humanist Ceremonies network
