Events

We welcome everyone who shares our values to our meetings – you don’t have to be a member of Humanists UK or even call yourself a humanist! All our events are publicised through Meetup, and you can also sign up for our newsletter to be the first to hear about future events. Regular meetings

We meet once a month at the Quaker Meeting House in Reading, on the  3rd Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm. Events are a mix of external and/or internal speakers, presentations, debates and discussions. For external speakers the presentations normally lasts up to an hour followed by a Q&A until 9pm. We have use of the facilities until 9.30pm. Tea and coffee are available at the start.

Book Club

Every other month the Book Club meets at The Biscuit Factory, Reading on Tuesday evening, usually the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The book for the next meeting is agreed by the members of the book club. We have mainly read non-fiction including accessible books on

Lunchtime Discussion Group

Our Lunchtime Discussion Group meeting is held monthly at a local pub, The Old Bell in Grazeley Green, to discuss topical issues on the fourth Wednesday of the month. You can find the briefing papers and other materials from upcoming and past meetings at Lunchtime Discussion Group.

Dinnertime Discussion Group (Online)

Our Dinnertime Discussion Group meeting is held online on the 1st Wednesday of the month. We are experimenting with the format and content but the aim is to have informed discussions of current issues with the topic being decided by the group.

Social Events

We arrange social events including meals out and local walks a few times a year.

Courses

We ran an online weekly six session ‘Introduction to Humanism: One Life course’ in Autumn 2024 and early 2026 with Windsor Humanists. We are planning to run the course again in early 2027.
