Remembrance Day

Humanists UK and many local humanist groups had to struggle to achieve the right to take part in official Remembrance Day parades. In so doing they achieved recognition of the fact that many of those who served and died for their country had no religious beliefs. Our presence ensures that they too are remembered.

On remembrance day 2020, Covid-19 travel restrictions prevented acting chair Alan Montgomery from visiting the Reading war memorial. Here is is laying the group’s wreath at the war memorial in Fleet where he lives.
